Background

I'm studying a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Business Information Systems at Curtin University in Perth. I came into this degree knowing how to use software, not how to build it. That's what I'm here to change.

ISYS3004 is the first unit where I've written real code — not just tweaked a template or followed a YouTube tutorial step-by-step. This portfolio is the result of five weeks of that.

How I built this

I used AI throughout — for generating starter code, explaining concepts I didn't understand, and debugging things that weren't working. What I didn't do was ask it to build the whole thing at once. That would have given me a site I couldn't explain. Instead I had a lot of smaller, specific conversations and tried to understand what came out of them before moving on.

The viva is next week. That's where it becomes obvious whether you actually learned anything.

Outside of study

I spend too much time on trails around the Darling Range, drink too much coffee, and am slowly getting better at noticing when apps have bad UX and forming an opinion about why.
