Michael Borck is a software developer, educator, and auditor-by-training working at the intersection of human expertise and artificial intelligence. He teaches information security, and this book grew out of the introductory course he wanted to hand students. It builds the defender’s mindset rather than a checklist of terms.

His book Substantiate, Don’t Assume takes the same discipline into professional security auditing. Conversation, Not Delegation argues that AI is most valuable as a thinking partner you converse with rather than a tool you delegate to. Assume Breach sits at the entry point to that path: the first course, before the audit and before the profession.

Michael builds educational software and resources, and writes about the 80/20 principle in learning and professional judgement.
